My blogger-personality Talatu-Carmen reflects my rapidly developing multiple personalities, and embodies my chronic inability to focus on just one thing--which is probably a very bad thing for a phd student--I fall in love with so many different things, which I don't have the time for: writing, photography, traveling, and most recently very tentative forays into acting. My blog Abubuwan da nake tunani chronicles the things that flit across my mind often when I am procrastinating my school work. Since my graduate work is in African literature and since I grew up in Nigeria, most of my posts have to do with Africa, Nigeria, or Hausa culture. In the blog Abubuwan da nake Rubutawa, I place larger chunks of text (short stories, translation projects, film and book reviews) that I'd like to get feedback on. Please feel free to comment, but please do not use, quote, or re-post anything from these blogs without first requesting my permission.
I think you're right. I read somewhere that something he said offended one of the Nobel chairs, who swore he would never give Achebe the Nobel. I will try to find the link to that article, so that I am not spreading internet rumours, but there are definitely politics there.

Every month I ask myself "why has Chinua Achebe not won a nobel prize?"
The answer is simple and available to everyone - He has not won a Nobel prize because of his critique of Joseph Conrad (Heart of Darkness).
