Quoting Kevin Federline

From one of America's most brilliant role models, Kevin Federline, the (wanna-be) hip-hopping husband of Brittany: "I want to go to Africa – I think it's a place where you can go and really, really help people and make a difference. And it's also a place I want to see – I'm into the safari animals and all that stuff. I grew up watching the Discovery Channel."

I suppose he has caught on that Africa is the celebrity thing to do right now. Now, the question is... why exactly was I reading an article on Kevin Federline?

Oh my god, Talatu, you make me laugh sometimes... yes, the question is indeed why is Federline on your daily Web rounds? hmmmm?

No, but really, long ago I was preparing a post on Teri Hatcher's hatch-it job on Africa when she appeared as a guest on The Actor's Studio. Her comments so appalled me that I did research on her book at Amazon and found more. I never posted it mostly because I've been unable to maintain my Blog momentum as I try to do other things... Anyway, here's part of that unfinished post since it fits into the Celebrity and Africa theme:

From Teri Hatcher's (of Desperate Housewives fame) tome Burnt Toast:

"Do the daily work. Make the small changes. Follow your chosen path. And, when the time is right, you'll find your Africa. When you release the weight of your past, you'll see that it still teaches you without controlling you. You're unburdened. You can appreciate being exactly where you are as you move in the direction you want to go. You can see what is, and what can be. Is. Will be. And that's enough."

During her appearance on The Actor's Studio, Teri Hatcher elaborated on this reference to "Africa," claiming that one (presumably a Westerner) can bring one's misery, pain, longing, troubles there and that "Africa can take it" because the continent has survived so much. She found her Africa and was transformed for the better. Listening to this drivel and watching the multicultural audience applaud politely drives me crazy.

Oh that is truly, truly wretched! So, Africa is a big sponge to take all the sorrows of the world and give primal comfort, eh? What the hell?!?!

I promise you K-Fed is not on my daily rounds... (LOL) But I seem to be a bit too knowledgeable about celebrity gossip these days, don't I? I am currently thinking i might need internet rehab. I have a serious, serious procrastination problem.

My dear Talatu, it's refreshing to hear you say (or write?!) the words 'bloody hell!'. Proof that indeed Christians have the right to let off steam in thoroughly edifying 'earthy' ways. As for you reading Federline, a woman needs a break from her PHD thesis - and from saving the world. I've spent the whole week surfing, surfing, surfing and indeed stalking Jeremy's blog.

By the way, you carry on with the anonymous posts. Your secret is safe with me...

P.S. Will you be in Nigeria when I'm around? It will be nice to finally meet you in person. Muchas lovas.

Hi, Thanks! {-; Unfortunately, I probably won't be in Nigeria while you are there, unless you are planning to be back next summer around July. But would love to meet you at some point. It sounds like you and I have a lot in common. Stay well.
